Free Range Pickin'
Original Acoustic String Band
Free Range Pickin' (FRP) is an acoustic string band that synthesizes bluegrass, folk, and songwriter sensibilities into its inspired originals and imaginative arrangements. The quartet's eclectic approach to its music, based on lush four-part harmonies and energetic instrumentation (mandolin, banjo, guitar and upright bass), has won fans throughout the Midwest and led to Minnesota Music Academy Award nominations for best band and best recording in the Bluegrass/Old-Time category.

Flight Risk Review
"Flight Risk," [is] your most adventuresome and successful project to date. There's some powerful songs here, propelled by your exuberant, instantly recognizable and unique approach to bluegrass. There's some real freshness, energy and excitement that is often sadly lacking in many contemporary high-lonesome forays. I'll be doing my best to get the word out in Nashville and in our other syndicated locations.

There's a youthful energy bubbling up in Free Range Pickin' and it smartly drives the music of this Minnesota band...a clever name for this band that does indeed range freely over the ever-widening bluegrass landscape.
-Bluegrass Unlimited

The Minneapolis group aptly combines a reverence for sounds of the past with modern cheekiness and expert playing. The band's excellent bluegrass chops and sense of humor should appeal to both the Prairie Home Companion and groove-prone crowds.
-The Onion

Their music is addictive. Free Range Pickin' are one of the major reasons the new bluegrass revival will destroy the youth of America, but if you think your willpower is strong enough, then, perhaps, you can enjoy them and resist permanent addiction.
